Mpoxvaxmap.org:
With the mpox outbreak of 2022, BHOC was able to jump into action. Expanding on a community member’s grassroots efforts to gather mpox vaccine location sites, BHOC was able to build an mpox vaccine locator website within several weeks. BHOC crowd-sourced vaccine location information with our public health and community partners, vetted information with volunteers, and worked with our developers to create an easy-to-use map feature. BHOC launched in August 2022, and worked with our dating app partners to promote the site. Over 200,000 visitors within a 6-month period accessed the site. In March 2023, the site was transitioned to CDC, where it is currently maintained.
The Network for Long COVID Justice:
The Network for Long COVID Justice links leaders from HIV/AIDS, disability justice, and patient-led Long COVID and Covid-19 advocacy groups to strengthen networks of people with Long COVID and associated conditions, utilizing organizational development, leadership training, cultural work and movement journalism. They seek to center the Black and Brown communities who have borne the brunt of the pandemic, and build campaigns for research, healthcare, and racial, social, economic, and disability justice by and for chronically ill and disabled people, their families and communities.
CHLI:
The Community Health Leadership Initiative (CHLI), a program funded by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, aims to develop, support and retain a highly skilled sexual and drug user health workforce, cross-trained workforce that reflects the populations served, has low turnover rates, and is valued and supported. Key components of CHLI include:
- CHLI Workforce Development Training and Mentorship Program, a 12-week program that serves as an entryway into HIV/HCV/STI and drug-user health careers
- Workforce Development Collective
- Retaining the workforce: Workforce Appreciation and Networking Events
- SF HIV FOG Mentor Program
- Peer-to-peer support and retention
